A Geek's Guide To The Galaxy

Weekly Movie Trailer Round-Up 04/12/13

Elysium
Director: Neill Blomkamp
Matt Damon, Jodie Foster
9 August 2013

Looks like this flick takes a more than a few cues from it’s District 9 predecessor – which is not a bad thing. Neill Blomkamp’s follow-up looks kick-ass and I can’t wait to see it!

Hangover III (Trailer #2)
Director: Todd Phillips
Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, Ed Helms
24 May 2013

This second trailer gives up some actual plot details. It looks like it could be funny and a good time. I’m hoping it is. I really liked the first one – but the second was a piece of crap.

Now You See Me (Trailer #2)
Director: Louis Leterrier
Morgan Freeman, Mark Ruffalo, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco, Woody Harrelson, Michael Caine, Jesse Eisenberg, Melanie Laurent
31 May 2013

This looks like a hell of a good time at the movies. This second trailer reveals more plot and gives us a clearer look that this truly must be a mystical tale. Whatever it is, with the talent involved, I’m really looking forward to it.

Behind The Candelabra (HBO Movie)
Director: Steven Soderbergh
Matt Damon, Michael Douglas, Debbie Reynolds
26 May 2013

This looks like it is going to be great! Soderbergh is very hit or miss, but he is always swinging for the fences. It’ll be great to see Douglas back in action and I’m looking forward to seeing how it all plays out. …If I only had HBO…

The Way, Way Back
Director: Nat Faxon, Jim Rash
Steve Carell, Sam Rockwell, AnnaSophia Robb, Amanda Peet
5 July 2013

I’m sounding like a broken record, but this is great. I love this movie without even seeing it. Jim Rash and Nat Faxon are supremely talented with a stellar comedic cast that has dramatic depth and pathos. I’m there.

Filth (UK Red Band Trailer) – NSFW
Director: Jon S. Baird
James McAvoy, Imogen Poots, Jaime Bell

Here’s where we discover that the X-Men are just a delusional, drugged up hallucination of Professor Charles Xavier. This head trip looks… trippy and interesting.

Rush
Director: Ron Howard
Natalie Dormer, Chris Hemsworth, Olivia Wilde
20 September 2013

Ron Howard is more miss than hit for me. He always seems… blah. And I have very little interest in any car racing films. I don’t know that I’ll see this flick – but, credit where it is due. This movie looks enticing.
